so, there we all are in the break room in my place of work, and the topic turns to the holiday shopping madness.
this co-worker starts to say how expensive this holiday season has been for him and that he's still not done, and too bad when the day comes the family members will find fault or something else wrong with his gifts, and to make things worst, that the wife also was purchasing gifts with his credit card so he feared the january statement.. so, i jokingly told him that one way he can remedy that is by telling his family that he's been studying the bible and that he won't be celebrating christmas this year as he's studying to become a jw.
they all laughed loudly and the guy, second by others in the room, told me that i just didn't know how good i had it being a jw this time of the year.

all the elders in my circuit are driving across the state for a big elders meeting.
and the ministerial servants have to do it on sunday.
evidentally they were all told to study certain parts of their new book before going.. .
So many here said to be "done" with the Organization, yet continue to dig into how things are going on the inside. It's crazy!
Either be "in" and apply Biblical teachings to the best of your ability, for a better present life and future, or be "out" and start living and minding your own business and leave others be what they choose.

It was quite the 'feel good' moment for me!

monday, november 22. youhadnohope.-eph.2:12.. jehovah's witnesses accept medical help and various forms of treatment.
our journal awake!
often contains articles on health matters.
Therevealer,
You missed the important teaching, just like all others that read from the Bible or our publications with ill intent. Re-read it again, this time pray prior to reading it so that you may comprehend the Biblical teaching in it.
Never ceases to amaze me how people miss and misinterpret the point completely!!!

what was it like growing up in a jehovahs witness household?.
growing up in a jehovahs witness household was very confusing.
i learned very early on what hypocrisy meant.
Hairyhegoat,
My experienced growing up JW and that of other friends of mine that also were born in and grew up JW are so very different from what you recount in your story.
I believe your statement that "I really thought my family was a unique case" is very true. Mine and other JW families I grew up with really made an effort to apply in their daily life Biblical principles which reported happines and many benefits up until this very day as it's intended by God when people listen and put in practice his rules.

sorry i posted this in the wrong section under technical support.
i'm not to great at posting up images i figured to repost it here where it belongs.
Wow! What a crazy, angry individual!
I think he'd have a problem with just about any neighbor, not just a JW neighbor.
What a nutjob!!!

it's a song by rascal flatts.
it really sums up my feelings about the jw's.
i have finally reached a point where i am at peace with my past.
OnTheWayOut,
I'm happy you've reached this point, really happy for you. Move on and be happy; live and let live.
Be well,

i'm venting a little bit, just a smidgen anyway.
i might not remember this thread tommorrow, as i just popped the ambien, and i'm waiting for it kick in so i can hit the sack.
i wanted to post this before my brain goes haywire.
Answering the original posted question, yes, there's such a thing as a perfect weekend when you're a JW.
Actually, a "perfect weekend" happens to anyone as it is relative to the person's expectations and state of mind.
As an actual JW in pretty good standing at the time, I make sure that just about every weekend is perfect according to my expectations: I fit in a bit of sleeping in late, because most days I wake up around 5:30 a.m., weekends is between 7:30 and 8:30; leisurely wake up, enjoy coffee breakfast, then fit in my field service time; come home, enjoy lunch a nap, then do a bit of chores and later on fit in shopping, dinner out or hanging out with other JW pals in leisure activities. The next day I fit in my meeting, then enjoy hanging out for lunch some place in the City, then whatever other relaxing activity fit for a Sunday afternoon, like playing sports with other JWs at some park.
And there it is... A perfect weekend!
Remember that it's all about expectations and state of mind.

my wife became a witness a few yrs after we had gotten married and i was wondering if the jw's believe that they should not socialize with people who are not jw's?i had some neighbors when i was younger and their kids who were close to my age said that that was their beliefs being witnesses.i ask my wife that and she says that isnt true.does it differ from congregation to congregation or is someone trying to cover up something?
?.
In this world, Christians (JWs) cannot isolate themselves from dealings with non-Christians (non-JWs) as it is necessary for our everyday functioning. However, yes, following Biblical admonishings, a true/serious JW does not have close/intimate association with non-JWs as there's nothing in common for such a relationship; our way of life is much too different for any significant relationship to solidify with a non-JW.
It's just the way it is.

strip poker can be a fun party game when played by visually -- and age -- appropriate gamblers.
it's a problem, however, when one of those playing is a preacher -- it's an even bigger problem when the only other player is a 14-year-old boy.. .
Emphasis on "Former" please.
All of them with that kind of sick behavior will become former JWs as they will be kicked out of the Organization that does not tolerate such indicency.
